Weatherization Assistance Program

How it works

The Weatherization Assistance Program is a grant for low-income families in the agency’s service area, which includes Etowah County. The agency says the program is designed to lower a home’s energy use and improve health and safety by tightening the home and preventing outside air infiltration.

What the money covers

The official page says weatherization measures can include:

How to apply

Applicants must schedule an appointment at their county office by calling the agency. An application is completed at the appointment, then placed on a waiting list and ranked by priority points determined by the grantor. When selected, the home is assessed, run through energy-auditing software, bid out to qualified contractors, completed, and then inspected by a Quality Control Inspector.

Timing and deadlines
