Alabama Power Energy Assistant

How it works

Energy Assistant helps individuals and families find financial support by asking a few anonymous questions and then showing available options. One of the options is a water heater program for customers who want to convert from gas to electric water heating.

What the money covers

The page says the program offers either:

• a free tank water heater, or
• a $500 rebate if you buy your own water heater and convert from gas to electric water heating.

The application flow also mentions other energy-saving product options, but for this program the covered improvement is specifically converting gas water heating to electric water heating. The page notes that this option does not apply if you live in a mobile home.

How it applies

The page presents this as an application-based benefit. Users answer questions about residence type, home ownership, household size, household income, county, prior Alabama Power rebates, and whether they are interested in converting gas water heating to electric.

Timing and deadlines

The page does not give a funding cap, deadline, or a published end date for the water heater offer. It also does not state any county-specific timing rules.

Related assistance options on the page

The same page also lists other assistance and savings options, including Budget Billing, Smart Thermostat Rebate, Heat Pump Rebate, LIHEAP referrals, weatherization assistance, Project SHARE, and community action agencies.
